Recently, Charlotte Police Chief Estella Patterson spoke bluntly about a racist text chain involving six local officers, calling them “disturbing.”
In the text chain, the officers talked about a contest to see who could pull over more Black drivers. At one point, the “n-word” was used to talk about violence against Black people.
Three of the officers have resigned. An independent, chain-of-command board has recommended termination for the other three.
Here’s what else Patterson had to say.

Where are our scary movie fans?
C&P contributor Brook Bolen has written a guide to horror movies filmed in North Carolina.
There are some well-known flicks like “The. Conjuring” and “The Black Phone,” but don’t miss the lesser-known movies. I’m partial to the very weird “Evil Dead 2,” a 1987 movie shot in Wadesboro and Lilesville that takes place in a demon-infested cabin.
Read the guide here.
