Today, we’re looking at students from North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro walking to the polls in big, big numbers after Republican election officials in North Carolina denied the university an on-campus early voting site.
It’s one of many Republican self-owns in NC this year.
NC A&T is the single largest historically Black university or HBCU in America, and one of the proudest too. Its alumni include the Rev. Jesse Jackson, Congresswoman Alma Adams, and former EPA Secretary Michael Regan.
It’s also the birthplace of the sit-in movement in the South, where young Black students created a guide to beating racism nonviolently.
In a new Billy Ball Explains NC, we break down NC A&T University’s push for an on-campus polling site. Plus, we take a look at how early voting went in the Tar Heel State.
