A third lawsuit was filed this week challenging the constitutionality of North Carolina’s latest gerrymandered maps.

The lawsuit argues the state’s newly-drawn Congressional and state legislative maps — which Republicans drew to maintain their stranglehold on power — are all unconstitutional.

Bob Phillips is the Executive Director of Common Cause NC, one of the groups that is suing. He spoke with Cardinal & Pine on Thursday about why Common Cause filed the lawsuit, the need for true redistricting reform, and the future of the state’s democracy.
