Gov. Josh Stein vetoes Republican election bill clearing early voting cuts, mass voter challenges

Gov. Josh Stein (D) has vetoed a bill passed by the General Assembly that would cut a week of early voting and would allow voters’ ballots to be challenged up to three days after Election Day.

In his remarks, Stein noted that the bill passed on partisan lines, with only Republicans voting in favor. He encouraged North Carolinians to ask their representatives to uphold his veto when it goes back to the General Assembly for an override.
