Over the next week, there are several opportunities to get involved in your community in North Carolina. We’ve included protests, voter registration events, listening sessions, and direct voter outreach opportunities in this week’s action guide.
These events are an opportunity for those who’ve been involved in advocacy to continue that work and also a chance for people looking to get involved for the first time.
🗓 Saturday, August 1
Black Summer Outside Canvass – Durham County (10 – 11 a.m. and 11 a.m. – noon)
Host: Advance Carolina and NC Black Alliance
Location: Durham, address provided upon registration
On Saturday, August 1, there are two different opportunities to canvass in Durham County with NC Black Alliance and Advance Carolina.
Black Summer Outside Canvass – Wilson County (10 – 11 a.m. and 11 a.m. – noon)

Location: Wilson County Public Library – 249 Nash St N, Wilson
On Saturday, August 1, there are two different opportunities to canvass in Wilson County with NC Black Alliance and Advance Carolina.
Flip NC Judicial Canvass (noon – 2 p.m.)
Host: Flip NC, Indivisible Guilford County
Location: 3001 Battleground Ave, Greensboro
One of the most important races on the ballot in November will be the North Carolina Supreme Court election. In Greensboro, you have an opportunity to speak with your neighbors about the court and why it matters.
Voter Registration in Durham (3 – 5 p.m.)
Host: Engaged Defenders for Democracy
Location: Common Market – 1821 Green St, Durham
An opportunity to register voters in Durham this Saturday.

Southern Sundays for Peace: Garner (12:30 – 2 p.m.)
Host: Engaged Defenders for Democracy
Location: US 70 & Mechanical Boulevard, Garner
Join Engaged Defenders for Democracy in Garner for their weekly pro-democracy protest. Positive signs are requested.
Southern Sundays for Peace: Creedmoor (1 – 2:30 p.m.)
Host: Engaged Defenders for Democracy
Location: North Main Street & East Wilton Avenue, Creedmoor
You can participate in a peaceful sidewalk protest in Creedmoor on Sunday. Organizers request positive signs only. Parking is located nearby.

Durham County Data Center Hearing (9 – 11 a.m.)
Host: Advance Carolina
Location: 200 E Main St, Durham
Durham County Commissioners will hold a meeting about the future of data centers in the community.
Triad Moral Mondays (6:30 – 7:30 p.m.)
Host: Indivisible Alamance, Poor People’s Campaign
Location: Elon Town Hall – 104 S Williamson Ave, Elon
Pro-democracy organizations are gathering in Guilford County as part of new Moral Monday events.

Freedom Rising Tour: Cumberland County (6 – 8 p.m.)
Host: Democracy North Carolina, North Carolina NAACP, NC Black Alliance, Common Cause of North Carolina, Black Voters Matter, NC Counts Coalition
Location: Cliffdale Recreation Center – 6404 Cliffdale Rd, Fayetteville
Part of a statewide movement, the Freedom Rising Tour is raising awareness about the attack on Black voters ahead of this year’s midterms.
ICLT August Social (6:30 – 8:30 p.m.)
Host: Indivisible CLT
Location: Common Market Oakwold – 4420-A Monroe Rd, Charlotte
At Indivisible CLT’s monthly social gathering, you can enjoy a drink, meet fellow members of the community, or if you’re trying to get involved, learn more about Indivisible and their work in the Charlotte area.

How we win in North Carolina: Raleigh Action Session (6 – 7:30 p.m.)

Location: Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh – 3313 Wade Ave, Raleigh
This event will include a discussion about the upcoming midterm elections in North Carolina and how attendees can get involved.
Raleigh Fight for Justice Lit Drop Party (6 – 8 p.m.)
Host: Flip NC, Indivisible Wake County
Location: Person Street Bar – 805 N Person Street, Raleigh
Meet up with members of the community in Raleigh as they help keep voters informed ahead of the midterm elections. Participants will be going door to door and leaving information with voters about the upcoming judicial elections. Before going out, food will be provided by the event organizers.
The Plan to Protect Your Vote with Stacey Abrams (7:30 – 8:30 p.m.)

Location: Virtual
Red Wine & Blue is hosting a virtual event where attendees will hear Stacey Abrams discuss threats to voting rights ahead of the November midterm elections.
