The bill, which passed the state Senate and is awaiting action in the state House, was sponsored by a former Duke Energy executive who’s still been getting paid by the utility giant, which has a monopoly in North Carolina.
Update: The Republican-controlled legislature passed this bill by overriding the veto of Gov. Josh Stein, who opposed it.]
