This week in North Carolina, you can attend protests, voter registration events, listening sessions, and more. 

Throughout North Carolina, in-person and virtual events are taking place this week. Whether you’re passionate about voting rights, wanting to attend a protest, or looking for an opportunity to make your voice heard, there is something happening for everyone.

In Raleigh, Planned Parenthood Votes South Atlantic is hosting a canvassing training. The Hometown Holler will be moderating an event in Huntersville that allows members of the community to hear from Democratic leaders and elected officials, and the North Carolina Association of Educators will be holding a rally that calls for a state budget to support public schools.

Engaged Defenders for Democracy – ICE Is Not Welcome Here! Cary ICE Office (9-11 a.m.)

Host: Engaged Defenders for Democracy

Location: 140 Centrewest Court, Cary

Join peaceful protesters in Cary as they stand on the sidewalk on the corner of Evans and Centrewest Court to protest ICE policies against immigrants outside of their local offices.

OUR State of Health: In Celebration of Mothers and Caregivers: Day 1 (6-8:30pm)

Host: North Carolina Black Alliance

Location: 1529 Turkey Trap Road, Supply

Attendees will learn about current issues in healthcare, and connect with local advocates, and learn how they can take action in their community.

This is the first of a two-day event. We have included information on Day 2 on Saturday May 16. Meals will be provided to those in attendance.

Register People to Vote at the North Asheville Tailgate Market (8-10 a.m.) and (10 a.m-12 p.m.)

Host: Buncombe County Democratic Party

Location: UNCA Campus Parking Lot P34 – 275 Edgewood Rd, Asheville

You can register people to vote in Buncombe County this Saturday, May 16.

Pancakes & Politics: Public Safety, Police & Community Trust (10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.)

Host: New North Carolina Project

Location: Mountain Island Library – 4420 Hoyt Galvin Way, Charlotte

In Charlotte, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a conversation about policing and community trust in public safety. Free breakfast will be provided.

Wake County Medicaid Deep Canvassing Training (10 a.m. – 3 p.m.)

Host: Planned Parenthood Votes! South Atlantic 

Location: Provided upon registration

This training will prepare canvassers to have meaningful conversations about Medicaid in the community. Both breakfast and lunch will be provided to attendees.

Wake County Indivisible Regular Business Meeting (10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.)

Host: Wake County Indivisible

Location: Virtual

At Wake County Indivisible’s May meeting the group’s plans for the second half of 2026 will be discussed.

Rage Against The Regime Gate City BLVD Edition! (11 a.m-12 p.m.)

Host: Indivisible Guilford County

Location: 3608 W Gate City Boulevard, Greensboro

Guilford County Indivisible is holding a Saturday protest in Greensboro against the Trump administration.

Franklin Community Canvass (11a.m.-2 p.m.)

Host: Down Home NC

Location: 113 Jolly St, Louisburg

Join Down Home North Carolina in Louisburg on Saturday, May 16 as they go out into the community to speak with their neighbors about the issues concerning them.

MONTHLY BRIDGE PROTEST – JUSTICE FOR THE EPSTEIN VICTIMS (11 a.m. – 1 p.m.)

Host: Fayetteville Resistance Coalition

Location: 195 Poe Ave, Spring Lake

You can join the Fayetteville Resistance Coalition’s protest over the Poe Avenue/S. Bragg Blvd overpass to demand the Trump administration be held accountable. 

OUR State of Health: In Celebration of Mothers and Caregivers: Day 2 (12-3 p.m.)

Host: North Carolina Black Alliance

Location: 1529 Turkey Trap Road, Supply

On Day 2 of this event hosted by the North Carolina Black Alliance, attendees will be connected with local organizations and resources. There will also be activities for children

Southern Sundays for Peace: Garner (12-2 p.m.)

Host: Engaged Defenders for Democracy

Location: U.S. 70 & Mechanical Boulevard, Garner

Join Engaged Defenders for Democracy in Garner. They will be hosting their weekly pro-democracy protest and invite the community to join them. Positive signs are requested.

Southern Sundays for Peace: Rocky Mount (12-1:30 p.m.)

Host: Engaged Defenders for Democracy

Location: Rocky Mount Mill, 1151 Falls Road, Rocky Mount

Join Engaged Defenders for Democracy in Rocky Mount. They will be hosting their weekly pro-democracy protest, and invite the community to join them. Positive signs are requested.

Rally for the Budget Our Students Need! (5-7 p.m.)

Host: North Carolina Association of Educators

Location: 201 N Chestnut St Winston-Salem

In Winston-Salem public school advocates are gathering to ask for a state budget that properly funds the state’s public schools and supports students.

South Durham Fight for Justice Lit Drop Party (6-8 p.m.)

Host: Flip NC

Location: El Quetzal Guatemalan Mexican Grill  – 4810 Hope Valley Rd, Durham

Attendees have the opportunity to provide information to voters in Durham about the importance of judicial elections on the November ballot. Canvassers have the opportunity to go in pairs or solo. Join the rest of the group for drinks afterwards!

Alamance Hour of Action (4-5 p.m.)

Host: Alamance Hour of Action

Location: 1388 S Main St, Burlington

In this edition of a weekly peaceful protest, residents of Alamance County will be marching on Thursday, May 21 in support of democracy in downtown Burlington. 

Cole Park Pop-Up(5-6 p.m.)

Host: Indivisible Chatham County

Location: Cole Park Plaza – 11470 US Hwy 15 501 N 102, Chapel Hill

Residents in Chatham County are making their voices heard as part of a weekly protest at Cole Park.

State of the State: House District 98 (6-8 p.m.)

Host: North Carolina Democratic Party, NC House Dems, Hometown Holler

Location: David B. Waymer Recreation & Senior Center – 14008 Holbrooks Rd, Huntersville

This town hall, featuring Democratic House Leader Rep. Robert Reives, NC Democratic Party Chair Anderson Clayton, and State Rep. Beth Helfrich will address some of the core issues impacting North Carolina, including the ongoing lack of a state budget. This event will be moderated by The Hometown Holler.
