Fear of a ‘coffin nail:’ How tariffs have hurt this Raleigh business

WATCH: For a year-and-a-half, President Donald Trump’s tariff policies have created uncertainty for American businesses and have increased costs for consumers on a host of products, critics say.

Andrew Ollum, the owner of Union Special—a bakery and café in Raleigh—says that his family-owned business has been impacted by the uncertainty.

“We feel like we take two steps forward and three steps back sometimes, with inability to budget and to raise capital and to, just, understand where our future really lies,” he told Cardinal & Pine after participating in a roundtable discussion with US Rep. Deborah Ross and other small businesses in the Raleigh area.
