Your guide taking action in North Carolina, July 11 – July 16

This week, there are countless opportunities to canvass, protest, and get involved in North Carolina’s democracy. We’ve included events across the state, both in person and virtual.

This upcoming week features several great opportunities to take action on the issues most impacting North Carolina communities and families.

On Monday, July 13, Cardinal & Pine will be joined by the hosts of the Hometown Holler in a discussion about the modern media ecosystem and the state of democracy in North Carolina.

As always, we’ve included events both in person and virtual so everyone has an opportunity to be involved.

In such a critical year for the state and nation’s democracy, there are many opportunities to get involved in your community.

🗓 Saturday, July 11

Raleigh Canvass for Healthcare Affordability (11 a.m. – 1 p.m.)

Host: Planned Parenthood Votes! South Atlantic

Location: Provided upon signup

Join Planned Parenthood to go door-to-door canvassing your neighbors in Raleigh about how healthcare affordability is impacting them.

Asheville Canvass for Healthcare Affordability (1 – 3 p.m.)

Host: Planned Parenthood Votes! South Atlantic

Location: Provided upon signup

Join Planned Parenthood to go door-to-door canvassing your neighbors in Asheville about how healthcare affordability is impacting them.

Rage Against The Regime Gate City BLVD Edition! (11 a.m – noon)

Host: Indivisible Guilford County

Location: 3608 W Gate City Boulevard, Greensboro

Indivisible Guilford County is holding a Saturday protest in Greensboro against the Trump administration.

SPEAK OUT NOW (11:00 a.m. – noon)

Host: Indivisible Chatham County

Location: Provided upon signup

Each week, members of the community in Chatham County gather peacefully against corruption and the Trump administration.

Flip NC Judicial Canvass (noon – 2 p.m.)

Host: Indivisible Guilford County, Flip NC

Location: 3001 Battleground Ave, Greensboro

One of the most important races on the ballot in November will be the North Carolina Supreme Court election. In Greensboro, you have an opportunity to speak with your neighbors about the court and why it matters.

Wake County Indivisible Registration Repair (2 – 4 p.m.)

Host: Wake County Indivisible

Location: Hickory Tavern – 401 Village Walk Dr Unit A, Holly Springs

Join Wake County Indivisible in Holly Springs as they reach out to members of the community through a letter writing campaign. Letters are being written to people whose voter registration forms are incomplete or have mistakes.

Southern Sundays for Peace: Garner (noon – 2 p.m.)

Host: Engaged Defenders for Democracy

Location: U.S. 70 & Mechanical Boulevard, Garner

Join Engaged Defenders for Democracy in Garner for their weekly pro-democracy protest. Positive signs are requested.

Southern Sundays for Peace: Rocky Mount (noon – 1:30 p.m.)

Host: Engaged Defenders for Democracy

Location: Rocky Mount Mill, 1151 Falls Road, Rocky Mount

Join Engaged Defenders for Democracy in Rocky Mount for their weekly pro-democracy protest. Positive signs are requested.

Durham Fight for Justice Lit Drop Party (12:30 – 2:30 p.m.)

Host: Flip NC

Location: Motorco Parts & Labor – 723 Rigsbee Ave, Durham

This is an opportunity to share information about the upcoming North Carolina Supreme Court election in the Bull City. Flip NC will provide food for those canvassing and attendees can meet up for drinks afterwards. You can go out solo or in pairs.

Southern Sundays for Peace: Creedmoor (1 – 2:30 p.m.)

Host: Engaged Defenders for Democracy 

Location: North Main Street & East Wilton Avenue, Creedmoor

You can participate in a peaceful sidewalk protest in Creedmoor on Sunday. Organizers request positive signs only. Parking is located nearby.

The Informed Citizen: Modern Media Ecosystems and the Health of Democracy (6 – 7:30 p.m.)

Host: Indivisible Guilford County

Location: St. Francis Episcopal Church & Day School – 3506 Lawndale Dr, Greensboro

Cardinal & Pine’s Dylan Rhoney and the Hometown Holler’s Daniel Osborn and Quinn Ray will speak in Greensboro about the modern media ecosystem in North Carolina. 

Indivisible Rutherford NC Meeting (6 – 8 p.m.)

Host: Indivisible Rutherford County

Location: Rock Steady Spindale – 239 W Main St, Spindale 

At Rutherford County Indivisible’s monthly meeting you can meet fellow community members and learn about some of the issues impacting the community.

🗓 Thursday, June 16

How we win in North Carolina: Raleigh Action Session (6 – 7:30 p.m.)

Host: Swing Left

Location: Raleigh, provided upon signup.

This event will include a discussion about the upcoming midterm elections in North Carolina and how attendees can get involved.

What Is Power? (6:30 – 8:00 p.m.)

Host: Down Home North Carolina

Location: River Oaks Commons – 1101 River Rd, Selma

Join Down Home NC in Johnston County for a discussion on power and how who wields power impacts the issues facing North Carolinians.

Food and childcare will be provided to attendees.

Summer Re-BootCamp (7 – 8 p.m.)

Host: Red, Wine, and Blue

Location: Virtual

Red, Wine and Blue is hosting a virtual event where attendees will learn about some of the fundamentals of democracy. An in-person follow up event will be available a week after this virtual meeting.
