Communities across North Carolina have passed moratoriums against data centers in recent months.
Durham Mayor Leo Williams tells Cardinal & Pine he supports a moratorium on large-scale data centers, and instead hopes to recruit businesses that will “become part of our fabric.”
Last year, Durham successfully recruited AbbVie, an Illinois-based biopharmacy company to the city. Williams said the company’s new Durham site will create 800 jobs for Durham residents.
