North Carolina state Rep. Rodney Pierce talked to us about his plans for his home region. (@cardinalandpine on Instagram)
We talked to Halifax County state representative Rodney D. Pierce about advocating for northeast North Carolina, a rural part of the state that’s often overlooked.
At the first NC House session of the year, we spoke with newly-elected House Rep. Rodney D. Pierce about his plans in the legislature for his three rural counties he likes to call “neglected northeastern North Carolina.”
One things he hopes to work on is prostate cancer aid.
“Halifax County, one of my counties has one of the highest, if not the highest prostate cancer incidence rate in the entire state,” Pierce said. “And while this is a disease that primarily affects Black men, it affects all people. That’s something that I could partner with my colleagues across the aisle on.”
