The holidays are over, but you can still catch a really cool light display in North Carolina. Let’s check out the NC Chinese Lantern Festival together.
Recently, we went to the NC Chinese Lantern Festival in Cary, North Carolina. This annual celebration of Chinese culture, which is kid-friendly, runs through Jan. 12 at Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary.

In Chinese culture, the lantern festival represents the end of the Chinese new year celebrations. It’s thousands of years old, and over time, the celebration grew from simple paper lanterns to elaborate designs. The festival celebrates change, good fortune, and hope, among other things.
