Your zodiac sign can teach you so many different things about yourself, including where you should live in North Carolina. Here are the best locations to try.
Finding the right place to live can often feel challenging. Asking yourself specific questions, like whether you would rather live in a small town or a big city, helps this process feel a little less daunting. If you feel like you’re at a total loss on where to start, though, don’t worry—I’ve got a fun suggestion that might help.
Determining where to live based on your zodiac sign takes some of the seriousness away from the situation, which may help you clear your mind and lock into a neighborhood you want to be bold and try. Zodiac/astrological signs correspond with your birth date (you can learn more about that here), but they also serve as a glimpse into the type of person you are and where you feel most comfortable.
They can help you better understand your strengths and weaknesses, and in turn, this narrows down your options when you’re trying to figure out where to put down roots, either temporarily or permanently. An Aries might thrive in a popular neighborhood, whereas a Cancer may do better in more peaceful environments. These small indicators allow you to view your living situation through a different lens and can help you turn a new area into your dream home in the process.
Aries (March 21 – April 19) – Raleigh
Aries are known for being equally courageous and carefree. Living somewhere like Raleigh gives you the opportunity to dig into both parts of your personality. As an Aries, you’re probably striving to grow your career, and a big city like Raleigh presents numerous industries to work in that will help you achieve this goal. You can indulge your carefree side by exploring the North Carolina Museums of Art, Science, and History, or by taking a bike ride through the scenic Pullen Park.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20) – Charlotte
If you’re a Taurus, you likely have a reputation for being the grounded one in your friend group. This zodiac sign is typically known for being really down to Earth and resilient, so living somewhere like Charlotte could work to your advantage. There’s a diverse range of activities you can enjoy here, from visiting the US National Whitewater Rafting Center to exploring the Levine Museum of the New South.
And, if you really want to tap into your Earth sign roots, get yourself a membership to the UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens.

Gemini (May 21 – June 21) – Greensboro
Gemini is an Air sign and is usually viewed as being curious and talkative. There’s a reason why this zodiac is represented by twins, as Geminis are also known for having dual personalities (which is sometimes described as a negative thing, but isn’t).
Greensboro is a great place for Geminis to live because it offers a mix of things to do for all interests. There’s the Greensboro Science Center and the International Civil Rights Center and Museum for days when you’re indulging your intellectual side, and The Bog Garden at Benjamin Park when you’re feeling more playful.

Cancer (June 22 – July 22) – Asheville
The Cancer zodiac sign is often described as being a homebody, so living in Asheville makes perfect sense. As someone who is a Cancer, I can attest to this. Asheville perfectly balances quiet solitude and adventure by presenting Cancers with the opportunity to explore in ways that feel most comfortable. Grabbing coffee at a local downtown shop, spending hours in a bookstore, or going for a walk through the Biltmore Estate grounds are all peak Cancer activities.

Leo (July 23 – August 22) – Hickory
As author and astrologer Lisa Stardust told USA Today, “Leo is ruled by the Sun,” and people who fall under this sign are known for being fiery, hard-working leaders. Hickory plays well to this personality type, particularly because it’s home to the Hickory Community Theatre and the Green Room Community Theatre. Even if you’ve never tried acting before, embracing this stage-oriented profession (or hobby) lets you tap into your Leo-fueled desire for attention, and it gives back to the community at the same time, so it’s a win-win for everyone.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22) – Winston-Salem
Winston-Salem is every Virgo’s dream. This astrological sign strives for perfection, which can honestly be overwhelming (as a Virgo rising, I feel this struggle). Being able to escape the perfectionist mindset for a while is hugely beneficial, and there is no shortage of places to do so in Winston-Salem. Catch a movie at Aperture Cinema, go kayaking on Salem Lake, or stroll through Reynolda Gardens and enjoy the simple pleasure of giving yourself a break. You deserve it, Virgo, truly.

Libra (September 23 – October 23) – Chapel Hill
Libra is ruled by Venus, and because of this, people who fall under this zodiac sign are usually drawn to sources of beauty. What better place to discover this part of your personality than Chapel Hill? The Ackland Art Museum. The North Carolina Botanical Garden. All the gorgeous shops and restaurants downtown. Chapel Hill is an endless, ever-growing source of beauty, art, and culture, and Libras will be able to find new and familiar ways to inspire themselves daily when they live here.

Scorpio (October 24 – November 21) – Wilmington
Scorpios are often in search of change and transformation, and Wilmington is a good place for this misunderstood zodiac sign because there’s a wide variety of things to do in this area. Looking for new ways to get outdoors? There are the Airlie Gardens and Wrightsville Beach. Want to go shopping? Head to the River District. Want to brush up on your arts & culture knowledge? The Cameron Art Museum is your oyster. Okay, that saying might not necessarily work as well as the original, but my point still stands!

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21) – Gastonia
Fire sign Sagittarius is as free-spirited as it gets, but one visit to Gastonia will have them wanting to settle down. Keepsake Brewery and Gilmore’s Mercantile will provide countless hours of entertainment and a sense of community. Wild & Whimsy Living and Gamers Alley are unique stores that will help you explore new parts of your personality while staying rooted where you are by supporting local businesses. Plus, there’s a mall, several libraries, delicious restaurants, and so much more.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19) – Weddington
Capricorns are realistic and practical, but they’re also ambitious. Living in Weddington offers the best of both worlds, as it provides a great place to achieve a meaningful work-life balance. Since it’s in the suburbs, Weddington provides a peaceful respite from a traditional 9-to-5 work schedule while still giving you plenty to do in your free time. Check out A Local’s Guide on Things to Do in Weddington to see what you’d most like to do once you get there.
Aquarius (January 20 – February 18) – Lewisville
Aquarians are creative, independent, and sometimes unpredictable, and calling Lewisville home will feel like a no-brainer once you see what this town has to offer. It’s quaint and quiet, and it truly feels like the definition of the word “home.” Everyone at Liberty Diner will know your name once you become a regular. There’s also Incendiary Brewing for the nights when you want to have some fun, and Coffee Mill when you want to have a relaxing morning to yourself to work on your novel.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20) – Cary
Cary is equal parts culture, outdoor activities, and family-friendly environment, so it’s a good place for Pisces to settle down when the time is right. This zodiac sign has a rosy view of life, and they’ll fit right into Cary because of that. From the bakeries and breweries to Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve and the Downtown Cary Farmers Market, you’re going to feel at home with each new activity you try. Plus, the friendly people and scenic surroundings are a significant asset.
