Triangle Walk to End Alzheimer’s raises more than $400,000

According to the Alzheimer’s Association of North Carolina, the Oct. 7 Walk to End Alzheimers in Raleigh, NC raised $420,000. They said 170 participants attended the event, and the Mark Fortier – Edward Jones walking group was the top fundraising team, raising a total of $26,753.
You can still get involved with the world’s largest event that amplifies awareness of Alzheimer’s and raises money for research, and support, at six events around North Carolina.
Senora Lynch at the NC Museum of History
Senora Lynch, a nationally-known potter from Warren County, told Cardinal and Pine that she will be at the NC Museum of History on Nov. 18 during Native American Heritage Month.
She follows the traditions of the Haliwa-Saponi Indian Tribe and her work has a home in the Smithsonian and the N.C. Museum of History.
NC Woman in the 2024 Guinness Book of World Records
Ginny MacColl from Southport, NC, made it into the 2024 Guinness Book of World Records edition!
Her achievement? At 72 she is the oldest competitor in the hit TV show, American Ninja Warrior.
She told WRAL that she was inspired to compete after her daughter appeared on the show, and wrote in her Instagram bio that she did her first pull-up at 63 years old.
