State Rep. Deb Butler (D-New Hanover County) spoke with LGBTQ advocates this week as part of Equality NC’s advocacy day at the General Assembly.
Equality NC and its supporters were at the legislature calling for great access for HIV prevention medication like PrEP, and HIV treatment medication such as PEP.
In her remarks, Butler said the fact that these life-saving medications aren’t more readily available is unacceptable. “It is a question of whether we believe that prevention should be a privilege or a right,” she said.
