Who says birthday parties are just for kids? Celebrate your next milestone at one of these Charlotte area venues.
If you’re lucky, you’ve been celebrating your birthday since you were a little kid. Whether it was with a Carvel Ice Cream Cake (with the crunchies), a visit to grandma’s house, or a slumber party with all your besties, something special marked the day you were born.
The day’s significance may have changed, but as adults, we still long for the same recognition for being born into this world — and surviving it year after year. “A birthday party makes people feel special,” says Jennifer Leigh Bishop, owner of J. Leigh Events in Charlotte. “I love watching the joy on people’s faces throughout the event.”
Many of Charlotte’s venues offer special event packages for parties of various sizes. Bishop offers a few suggestions before diving into planning:
- Choose a location that fits your vibe and budget.
- Consider who will be attending the birthday party before choosing a time.
- Match the venue with what works for the season and weather.
- Think about special touches and keepsakes that will remind you of the special day.
And if you’re planning a surprise birthday party, Bishop says simple is best. Elaborate stories to get someone to their surprise party often become too cumbersome to keep secret. Tailor the event for the guest of honor, consider what they’d enjoy, and how many people they’d want at the celebration.
