A Charlotte mom is speaking out about how the family was treated by agents from the US Department of Homeland Security and her daughter's detention.
State Rep. Carla Cunningham (Mecklenburg Co.) is the only Democrat who voted to override Gov. Josh Stein’s veto of a bill that forces sheriffs to cooperate with ICE. Because of her vote, the bill passed.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials will be given access to the personal data of the nation’s 79 million Medicaid enrollees, including home addresses and ethnicities, to track down immigrants who may not be living legally in the United States, according to an agreement obtained by The Associated Press.
As the White House aims to achieve its goals of deporting 1 million immigrants by the end of the year, immigrants showing up to court appearances have been arrested or detained by ICE.
