5 Fun Things to Do Across North Carolina This Weekend (Jan. 13-16)

Another weekend is upon us, and for many North Carolinians, it’ll be a three-day weekend as Monday marks the official Martin Luther King Jr. Day federal holiday. Outdoor Ice Skating @ Red Hat Amphitheater, Raleigh; Jan. 13 – 16

Spend some time on the ice at the Red Hat Amphitheater in Raleigh. UNC Health presents “The Rink”, a family friendly outdoor ice rink complete with views of the Raleigh skylines. Tickets are $6-$11. If you don’t plan on skating, there are games like giant jenga and cornhole, a hot cocoa and sweet treat bar, and for the 21+ crowd, Thursday is brewery night!

NoDa Brewery Tour, Charlotte; Jan. 13 – 15

This is a free, no reservation required activity for the craft beer enthusiast in your life. Stop in the North End Taproom for a 45 minute tour that guides you through the brewing process, and lets you see, feel, and smell the hops, grains, and malts that go into their beer.

Seasonal Yoga + Acupuncture, Asheville; Jan. 14 

The West Asheville Yoga Studio is offering a deeply restorative yoga, breathwork, and acupuncture class from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. to help you rest and relax. Make sure to wear comfy clothes and bring a yoga mat. Other props and blankets will be provided. 

Hurricanes vs. Canucks, Raleigh, Jan. 15 

The Carolina Hurricanes are playing the Vancouver Canucks this Sunday at 5 p.m. If you’ve never seen hockey live and in person, it’s a great experience for family, friends, and anyone else who wants to join the fun. 

MLK Parade and Commemoration, Wilmington, Jan. 16

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the MLK Jr. Celebration Committee of Southeastern North Carolina is hosting a week of events commemorating his legacy, including a potluck, breakfast with the NAACP, and a Family Day.  The final celebration is a parade downtown Wilmington on Monday, January 16th, at 11 a.m.
