US Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) on Sunday visited Asheville as part of his “Fight Oligarchy” tour, and spoke out against the powerful elite who have taken charge of the nation.
Sanders has traveled the country speaking out against America’s immense wealth inequality, criticizing the Trump administration’s policies that will cut access to healthcare and education while enriching the Elon Musks of the world.
In his remarks, Sanders acknowledged the difficulty of the current moment while also finding inspiration in America’s history when the odds seemed to be against those fighting for change.
“If you think back on the history of America, our people over the years, over the hundred years, in really difficult times, came together and fought and won,” he said.
