In a recent speech to Congress, President Trump said that his increased tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China, three of the country’s biggest trading partners, would bring costs down for the American public.
But as economists have been warning and—we will soon see for ourselves in the grocery store—that’s not how tariffs work.
