Gov. Roy Cooper vetoed the bill, but Republicans in the state legislature are hoping to override his veto before new members take office in 2025. Cooper’s veto would likely stand with the new members sworn in.
But here’s what’s more important than the partisan bickering: Senior Editor Billy Ball says it’s really bad for the public, which has little faith in their political leaders.
