We asked our readers to tell us their favorite Triangle wine program. Here’s what they said.
Recently crowned as the best wine program in the NC Triangle region by a readers’ poll survey as part of our Triangle Guide, ZincHouse Winery and Brewery has captivated the taste buds and hearts of locals and visitors alike. But what makes ZincHouse so special? Let’s dive into its history, explore its offerings, and understand why it has earned the prestigious accolade of best wine in the NC Triangle.
ZincHouse Winery and Brewery is more than just a place to enjoy a fine glass of wine or a refreshing pint of beer. Its story began when the founders, a passionate couple with a deep love for viticulture and brewing, were finally able to turn their dream into reality, opening their doors to the public in 2022. They chose a picturesque location in Durham, with lush green landscaping and an incredible view. With a commitment to quality and sustainability, they planted their first vines and began crafting what will become award-winning wines.
The name “ZincHouse” pays homage to owner Mike’s love of this regional mineral. In fact, he had his house custom-made in 2006 with Zinc Cladding on the walls and roofs, making it his very own Zinc House. Zinc mining was once a thriving industry in North Carolina, and it’s an important component of healthy wine fermentation.
ZincHouse’s property spans over 87 acres, featuring a vineyard with a variety of grape species carefully selected to thrive in the local climate. From robust reds to crisp whites, each grape variety is nurtured with meticulous care, ensuring that only the finest fruit makes its way into their future wines. Until their own crop is ready, they have a wonderful sommelier program in place, bringing in only the best wines to provide a diverse, upscale wine experience. In addition to its vineyard, ZincHouse soon hopes to open its brewery to produce a range of craft beers.
Visitors to ZincHouse are treated to a diverse selection of local food trucks so they can find plenty to eat while enjoying the gorgeous views and fine wines offered on the property. Guests are also welcome to bring their own food if the food truck selection does not meet their needs.
ZincHouse hosts a variety of special events, from wine and tapas pairings to live music and comedy nights. These events provide a festive atmosphere for guests to enjoy their favorite beverages while mingling with fellow enthusiasts.
Whether you’re a seasoned wine connoisseur, a craft beer enthusiast, or simply someone looking for a relaxing day out, ZincHouse has something to offer. Their commitment to excellence is evident in every aspect of their operation, from the quality of their offerings to the hospitality of their staff.
As ZincHouse continues to grow and evolve, they remain dedicated to their core values of quality and community. Future plans include expanding their vineyard, introducing their own wine and beer varieties, and hosting even more events and educational opportunities for their guests.
If you haven’t yet experienced ZincHouse Winery and Brewery, now is the perfect time to plan your visit. Whether you’re looking to enjoy a leisurely wine tasting, explore the grounds, or enjoy a beautiful day out with friends, ZincHouse offers a range of experiences that are sure to delight.
