Amid the Trump administration’s immigration raids in Charlotte, the Save America Movement worked with Siembra NC to train community members who volunteered to help patrol neighborhoods in order to proactively alert immigrants whenever they saw federal agents present.
The trainings began a week before Border Patrol arrived in Charlotte and continued over this past weekend. Collectively, the groups have trained between 2,500 and 3,000 people in the Charlotte area on how to engage with and film Border Patrol and other federal immigration agents conducting raids.
Rev. Joel Simpson and Charlotte resident Sasha Banks were among those involved in the effort. Watch to hear what they had to say.
