As December approaches in Greensboro, you might start looking for affordable and convenient options for your favorite holiday eats. If you’re hosting this year’s festive gatherings, you have several strong options for holiday meal shopping. Each retailer offers something special, whether it’s savings, bulk buys, pre-made meals, or fully organic artisanal foods.

Each retailer offers its own take on holiday savings and meal support, from budget-friendly DIY bundles to fully-prepared dinners, not to mention oodles of a la carte options. Whether shoppers want to build a feast from scratch or simply pick up a ready-to-heat meal for their holiday gathering, in December, these retailers offer meaningful savings and seasonal offers.

ALDI’s Holiday Meal Shopping Deals

ALDI’s popular Thanksgiving “meal for 10” promotion continues through December 24, allowing shoppers in Greensboro to use the same discounted lineup as Thanksgiving. This offer includes roughly twenty-one essential items to build a holiday dinner at home for about forty dollars, making it one of the most cost-effective options available this season.

Although the bundle is structured as a DIY shopping list rather than a pre-cooked meal, the items included—such as whole turkeys, potatoes, stuffing mix, rolls, pie crusts, canned pumpkin, onions, cream soup, and green beans—translate seamlessly into a December dinner menu. ALDI has also expanded seasonal selections in its holiday baking and dessert aisles, along with reduced prices on sides and entertaining trays highlighted in this month’s weekly ad.

Greensboro shoppers can access these deals at locations across the city, including Battleground Avenue, W. Gate City Boulevard, New Garden Road, and Randleman Road, all of which maintain adjusted hours leading up to Christmas Eve.

Publix: Fully Prepared Holiday Meals

Publix is offering some of the most convenient holiday dinner options in the area through its Order Ahead Holiday Meals platform, which features fully-cooked turkey or ham dinners complete with traditional sides and desserts. Designed to serve approximately eight people, these meals are packaged with dishes such as cornbread dressing, mashed potatoes, cranberry relish, gravy, and seasonal desserts, giving hosts the ability to heat and serve without extensive cooking time.

Publix requires at least forty-eight hours’ advance ordering and encourages early reservations due to high demand during Christmas week. Alongside the holiday dinner bundles, Publix is also running December promotions on party platters, bakery desserts, and deli trays, making it a solid choice for holiday entertaining. These offerings are available at the Publix location on W. Gate City Boulevard, which also features extended December hours and holiday pickup scheduling.

Costco’s Big Holiday Meal Savings

Costco in Greensboro, located on W. Wendover Avenue, is not promoting a single standardized holiday meal kit in the same way it does for Thanksgiving, but the warehouse is offering seasonal holiday savings through its December coupon book running through December 21. These discounts include price drops on large-format items, specialty meats, and prepared foods suited for holiday hosting.

For those feeding a crowd, Costco carries bulk turkeys, ham roasts, and side-dish trays, as well as holiday-themed bakery and dessert options. It also features prepared meal boxes such as the Rastelli’s turkey dinner that serves eight to ten people, a heat-and-serve solution that functions similarly to a holiday bundle even without official branding. Like most chains, Costco will be closed on Christmas Day, and shoppers are encouraged to visit early as holiday stock fluctuates quickly.

Deep Roots Market’s Traditional Holiday Meal and More

Deep Roots Market is a community-owned co-op grocery store in Greensboro. As a co-op, they emphasize natural, local, and sustainably produced items. and they offer a Holiday Menu that allows you to order full meals, ala-carte sides, or desserts for pickup.

If you need a fully-cooked family meal, their  “Traditional Meal” option priced at $99.99 serves 4-6 adults andincludes an oven-roasted turkey breast, a quart of poultry gravy, half dozen yeast rolls, and your choice of 3 sides from such options as baked mac and cheese, classic mashed potatoes, vegan mashed potatoes, collard greens, green beans and onions, sweet potato soufflé, traditional herb stuffing, cornbread dressing or wild rice salad.

However, if you’re just looking to supplement your meal, they offer a la carte sides at $16.99 each (serving 4-6 adults), and desserts (apple pie, pumpkin pie, sweet potato pie) that are $16.99 each. For either full meals or a-la-carte options, pre-orders must be submitted three days before pickup.

This is a strong locally-owned option for holiday meals in Greensboro, especially if you’re seeking something more artisanal or locally-sourced than the big chains.

Greensboro residents have strong options for every style of celebration: ALDI for the most budget-friendly from-scratch feast, Publix for reliable, fully-prepared meals ready to serve, Deep Roots for an organic artisanal feast, and Costco for large-group holiday buying and high-value seasonal deals. With the winter holidays approaching, the key recommendation from all retailers is to plan ahead, reserve early where possible, and shop well before Christmas Eve to secure the best pricing and availability.
