Cary high school student Jamie Cheng is one of just 21 students nationwide receiving the $25,000 scholarship. She’s researching heart disease.
This week was my first week of classes for the semester, so I know I could use some good news to brighten up the chaos. How about you?
This week, a Cary high school student was recognized for her research on heart disease, and Kamala Harris announced she will be stopping in North Carolina for her book tour. After flooding impacted much of the area in July, some Chapel Hill businesses are also starting to reopen their doors to customers this week.

Flood recovery in Chapel Hill
A beloved grocery store reopened its doors this Monday in Chapel Hill after flood damage forced its closure in July.
According to Chapelboro, Trader Joe’s at Eastgate Crossing has been closed since July 7 after damage from Tropical Depression Chantal forced the typically busy store to shut its doors to the public. Flooding in the area impacted a number of Chapel Hill businesses, which have also begun to reopen.
Cheering customers were welcomed into the store at 4 p.m. Monday, yet this Chapel Hill Trader Joe’s is now open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
