This week, one Raleigh teen shows off his golf skills, and an Asheville garden gets an enchanting makeover. If you’re looking for some sweeter news, however, we also share where to find a free treat today!
If you just can’t get enough positive news, check out our previous editions of “Good News Friday.”
7-Eleven treats for 7/11
What’s better than a sweet treat? A free one!
Every year, 7-Eleven celebrates its birthday with its signature treat – the Slurpee. Today’s National Slurpee Day marks the chain’s 98th birthday, which means free small Slurpee drinks at select 7-Eleven, Stripes and Speedway locations.
This year, loyalty members can earn an additional free small Slurpee by scanning their rewards information at checkout. This coupon lasts until July 31st, so you can save it for a hot Summer day!
Underrated NC golf pro
Raleigh teen, Morgan Riley, swung big at Steph Curry’s annual Underrated Golf Tournament, winning the boys’ division at the Eisenhower Golf Club in June. Riley’s win comes after competing in the tournament for the last four years.
The tournament aims to provide young, overlooked golfers with opportunities for success in a predominantly white, male-dominated sport.
Now, he is set to play in the Curry Cup at Liberty National Golf Club in September, where he will compete against the 23 other top boys from this year’s competitions. Before that, however, Riley is taking his talents to Harvard, where he has committed to play golf.
Riley’s brother, Quinn, is also a star. He’s a professional golfer who competed at Duke.
