You know that face your dog makes when you leave the house to go out with friends — those puppy dog eyes that surpass all barriers of communication and beg you to take them with you? Well, what if we told you that you could … and should?
We’ve compiled a list of 20 dog-friendly spots where your dog is more than welcome — and in many cases encouraged — to join.
Doggos Dog Park and Pub
From here on out, we’ll be breaking down establishments into categories to let you know which breweries, bars and restaurants are dog-friendly, but Doggos deserves a category all its own for this topic, as it’s Greensboro’s only dog bar.
You have to email in your dog’s records in order to gain admission, but it’s worth it for the piece of mind it gives you to have your doggo roam the 10,000 square feet of space while supervised by a team of “rufferees.” Humans can partake in any of the 16 draft beers or a list of creative cocktails.
Dog-friendly breweries & bars
The Abbey Taphouse
310 E. Sycamore St.
Opened by four friends who care about cultivating community, The Abbey has in the past hosted adoption fairs for rescue organizations on its spacious patio.
World of Beer
1310 Westover Terrace
What else is there to say about an establishment that offers a free giant pretzel to anyone who visits with their dog on a Sunday?
Oden Brewing Co.
802 W. Gate City Blvd.
Bill Oden and wife Jan, along with his brother John and their families, opened a craft brewery in the same building that once housed Bill and John’s grandfather’s bottling plant.
Natty Greene’s Pub & Brewing Co.
345 S. Elm St.
Great beer, a variety of delicious food from traditional pub fare to healthy options and a kid’s menu, plus plenty of large TVs to catch the game. But the open patio is what dog lover’s show up for.
M’Couls Public House
110 W McGee St.
M’Coul’s Public House serves gastropub fare along with imported beer and whiskey, which you can enjoy from any of the assigned dog-friendly tables on the patio.
Bearded Goat
116 E. Lewis St.
Billed as “a classy, artistic dive bar that we want you to call your home away from home,” the Bearded Goat recently hosted SPCA of Triad as part of the organization’s Thirsty Thirty Tour of dog-friendly establishments in the area.
College Hill Sundries
900 Spring Garden St.
Look for the iconic old “Drink Pepsi Cola” sign, and since there’s no kitchen, dogs are allowed inside.
Westerwood Tavern
508 Guilford Avenue
The ‘Wood (as regulars call it) was revamped in June 2010, when co-owner and manager Mike Bosco worked with staff to create a friendly and safe environment where people (and dogs) can come together.
Boxcar Bar + Arcade
120 W. Lewis St.
Dogs are welcome both inside and outside this barcade, which cultivates a casual, welcoming environment with affordable prices, classic and modern arcade games, a full bar, free popcorn and covered outdoor seating.
Wahoo’s Tavern
2120 Walker Ave.
Bring your dogs down to Wahoo’s, just keep them out on the patio when the live music starts kickin’ inside.
Dog-friendly eateries
Cafe Europa
200 N. Davie St., #15
This European-style cafe and drinking establishment offers near-nightly specials on drink and food and an outdoor patio where you and your pup can enjoy the vibes thanks to the relaxing fountain and views of local landmarks.
Lindley Park Filling Station
2201 Walker Ave.
Your dog is always welcome to join you on the covered patio at Lindley Park, which serves up bean cakes, buffalo shrimp, buttermilk fried oysters, and a variety of burgers, sandwiches, and wraps.
Big Burger Spot
Two Greensboro locations: 3750-A Battleground Ave. & 510 A Nicholas Road
Known for their char-grilled burgers, what’s lesser known is that Big Burger Spot even offers a dog menu. You can also have your pet’s portrait added to the mural on the fence outside. These are all reasons why BBS earned its five-bone rating on BringFido.
Sticks and Stones
2200 Walker Ave.
Your dog is welcome to join you at any of the outdoor tables at this clay-oven pizza joint.
Crafted
220 S Elm St.
This American-Mexican fusion restaurant specializing in tacos and burgers allows your leashed dog to join you on the outdoor, partially covered patio.
Fishbones
2119 Walker Ave.
Fishbones is described as a contemporary eatery serving mostly seafood in a casual setting with dog-friendly outdoor seating.
Scrambled Southern Diner
2417 Spring Garden St.
Nicknamed “The Little Gem on Spring Garden Street,” Scrambled is a dog-friendly, eclectic Southern diner that serves breakfast all day, lunch after 11 a.m., and blue-plate specials Monday through Friday.
The Green Bean
341 S. Elm St.
The Green Bean bills itself as “Your Third Place,” so don’t forget to bring along your third wheel.
LeBauer Park/Lawn Service/Parkside Pullup
208 N. Davie St.
If you’re spending the afternoon at LeBauer Park and need some snacks or refreshments after hitting the dog park, stop by one of the two outdoor food stalls: Lawn Service and Parkside Pullup both serve great options while allowing you to find a spot to eat and rest with your dog nearby in the park.
