Good News Friday: We found our new favorite restaurant in Greensboro

Southern Living Shouts Out Seagrove Pottery 

Did you know there are only 236 residents in Seagrove, NC? And many of them are potters!

This week, Southern Living named Seagrove a “bucket list” destination for pottery in a guide to the rural Randolph County town, noting that it became a “potter’s paradise” in the early 20th century, and continues the tradition today.

Some of the potters, like Ben Owens, are even descendants of the original Seagrove Potters!

The best time to visit is generally Wednesday- Sunday, and if you’re free this weekend you’ll have the chance to see the 41st Annual Seagrove Pottery Festival on Nov. 18 – 19.

Baby Turtles in Cape Fear 

Usually November is a bit late to find baby sea turtles, but with an unusually warm fall, park rangers from Cape Lookout National Seashore recently came across a few hatchlings making their way to the water. 

While the park closes areas with sea turtle nests, they still ask the public to leave nests alone to give turtles a higher chance of survival.

Ski Season is Back 

Mid-November is the perfect time to get your skis (or snowboards) out in North Carolina! 

With six full-service ski areas, slopes for all skill levels, and some of the highest elevations in the southeast, North Carolina can support skiing even when the weather is warmer at lower elevations.

We Found a Winner!

“Leah Tries” is a regular series on Cardinal and Pine’s social media channels. There have been a lot of tries ranging from Korean Corn Dogs, Liver Pudding, Mochi Donuts, and even an NC State Fair Edition.

This week, however, we think we’ve found a favorite. 

Bandito Bodega in Greensboro is a Latin and Asian fusion spot tucked away on West Friendly Avenue. It started as a popular food truck, but now it has a brick and mortar location. 

While the seating may be limited, the flavors are not. Must-have dishes are the pork dumplings and beef birria quesadilla.
