The office of US Rep. Madison Cawthorn praised federal funding for local health clinics but forgot to mention he and other Republicans didn’t vote for it.
A freshman congressman from Western North Carolina is bragging about federal money that came to health centers in his district.
Problem is, US Rep. Madison Cawthorn skipped the vote for the COVID relief bill that made it happen.
The official account for Cawthorn, the 25-year-old Republican from Hendersonville, tweeted Tuesday afternoon that he was “happy” to see needed money go to four health clinics in his district that help vulnerable residents. Not only that, he was “Proud to see tax-payer dollars returned to NC-11.”
Voto Latino pointed out the hypocrisy shortly after saying “he doesn’t get to act like he brought funds in for his community, because he didn’t.”
What Cawthorn neglected to mention was that he skipped the vote for the Biden administration-backed American Rescue Plan, the federal legislation that made the funding for the local health clinics possible.
As Cardinal & Pine previously reported, Cawthorn skipped the vote to give a speech to conservative activists, where he criticized the bill as a waste of money and a handout that would foster laziness and dependency.
