Big Donations for Wake County Public Schools
WakeEd Partnership and more than 100 Wake County businesses collected $115,000 and 250,000 units of school supplies to support their local public schools! Throughout the year, public school teachers can get the free for classroom supplies they need at the Tools 4 School location in Cary.

North Carolina > South Carolina
From our roads to our football teams, North Carolina once again proved why we are the better of the Carolinas.
On Saturday, Sept. 2, UNC won their game against the University of South Carolina, 31-17. UNC’s defense had a total of nine sacks, the second-most since the school started tracking them in 2000.
On Monday, Sept. 4, Duke beat Clemson, who was number nine in the AP Top 25 Poll, in a huge upset for the South Carolina school. The Blue Devil’s victory also marked their first win against a top-10-ranked team since 1989.
Duke and UNC are now both on the top 25 poll, ranking at #21 and #17 respectively.
Adding to South Carolina’s misery, UNC-Chapel Hill’s powerhouse women’s soccer team beat South Carolina Thursday night.
NC Woman Turns 100 and Her Flowers Turn 48
A resident of North Carolina wrote to News13 about her mother’s 100th birthday–and the flowers that added to the celebration!
Gloria Stenburg’s late husband planted three rhododendron bushes in 1975, and they’ve continued to grow for almost 50 years.
NC Museum of History Wants to Fund Your Field Trip
Now through Sept. 24, NC teachers can apply for the NC Museum of History 2023-2024 Travel Grant. Recipients’ classrooms will be reimbursed for the total cost of transportation to the museum.
They especially encourage educators at Nash and Edgecombe County schools to apply because of extra grant money specifically donated for them to use.
