Our weekly roundup of good news in North Carolina finds some locals taking up space on the national stage this week. Plus: A NC medical researcher is pioneering a life-saving treatment. 

This week’s “Good News Friday” is skewing towards the national stage where we’re taking up quite a bit of space.

Durham Chef x Gordan Ramsay

Durham Chef Queen Precious-Jewel Zabriskie, co-owner of Indulge Catering LLC and Indulgent Essential Spices, is competing on Gordon Ramsay’s new food competition show “Food Stars.” Catch the latest episodes on multiple streaming sites to see what this North Carolina chef is all about! 

NC Shelter Dog Takes the Stage 

Annie (the little orphan) is on tour and it’s come to our attention, courtesy of Blumenthal Performing Arts, that the dogs cast as Sandy are always rescued from animal shelters. 

One of the animal stars on this tour is from North Carolina. Addison (cast as Sandy) was rescued from a shelter one day before she was going to be euthanized, and now she’s taking over the spotlight. 

Carolina Cowboys on Prime

We’re filled with NC pride this week as Prime’s new series “The Ride” makes its debut. 

The eight-episode docuseries explores the Professional Bull Riders’ 2022 season. One focus of the series are the new teams, one of which is called the Carolina Cowboys and is based in Winston-Salem.  

Durham Company Makes Medical Strides 

Humacyte, a medical company in Durham, is making strides in the healthcare world by growing blood vessels from human proteins and tissue. 

The technology is already aiding patients with severe trauma wounds in the Ukraine, they are currently in clinical trials in the U.S. and seeking FDA approval by the end of 2023.
