Down to the Wire with the NC State Fair and Outer Banks Vying for the Best of NC Championship. Here’s How to Vote.

We love basketball, brackets, and North Carolina, which is why we’re launching a “Best of NC” Tournament.

Update, April 5. Wooo-boy. That was some Final Four. Which means we have the only-in-North Carolina match-ups between the NC State Fair and the Outer Banks.

Over the weekend, we saw the Outer Banks just dominated against Bojangles, with the fried chicken and biscuit fans just not showing up to defend their Bo-time team. And then Cherie Berry, formerly and informally known as the Elevator Queen, stood no chance to the dedicated NC State Fair fans who want nothing more than to see the agricultural fair extravaganza make it to the end.

Now it’s time for you to cast your final vote, in our Best of NC Tournament. Click on the Twitter link below to cast your ballot!

Update, April 2. Time for the Final Four. Last round, we saw some upsets (Cherie Berry over Michael Jordan?) and some real loyalty from NC State Fair fans as they rallied against UNC and Duke fans.

We’re back at it again for our last match-ups this weekend before the final game on Monday when we declare who, indeed, is the Best of North Carolina.
For our Final Four, we’ll see
Bojangles and its (potentially) unbeatable fried chicken facing off against the vacation-time vibes of the sandbar of all sandbars, the Outer Banks. Also headed into what is surely to be a fierce battle is the NC State Fair with its loyal fanbase (deep-fried Oreos for life) and Cherie Berry, the former state labor commissioner and Elevator Queen of NC.

Cast your vote over on our Twitter feed here.

There are few things more North Carolina than our communal passions (and heartbreaks) during March.

And while all the men’s teams in the state have already suffered defeats in the NCAA Tournament, the ladies of No. 1 seed NC State University still have a shot at the title. The Wolfpack will play Indiana at 6 p.m. Saturday.

We’ve got our basketball divisions in this state, for sure, but as the last NC team standing, can we all please get behind the Pack?

We here at Cardinal & Pine are rolling out a bracket of our own, and need you all to hop in and let us know what people, places, food, and events rule North Carolina by voting in polls hosted on our Facebook and Twitter accounts.

We’ll see fierce faceoffs from NC staples like sweet tea and Cheerwine (yes, you have to choose) or Michael Jordan and Billy Graham (maybe not as big a debate there for some).

We’ll start hosting polls Friday midday and will keep them open through Saturday.
