Hispanic Heritage Month is a month-long celebration of the culture and history of Latin Americans.
It means a lot in NC. More than 1 million Latinx people call North Carolina home, and they are the fastest-growing ethnic group in the state.

The month starts on Sept. 15 rather than the first to commemorate the independence days of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua.
While there were several festivals in North Carolina leading up to the 15th, the celebrations are far from over.

Cape Fear Latinos Festival and Parade, Wilmington: Sept. 23
Cape Fear Latinos presents its second annual Hispanic Heritage Festival on Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Live Oak Bank Pavillion. This FREE community event starts with a parade at 1:30 p.m. and continues with dancing, music, activities, food trucks, and more!
Hispanic Heritage Festival of the Carolinas, Charlotte: Sept. 23
The 2nd Hispanic Heritage Festival of the Carolinas is a seven-hour celebration of music, culture, and food. Latin Grammy and Latin Billboard duo Gente De Zona will make their first appearance in North Carolina as the festival’s headline act! The event will go from 3 p.m. – 10 p.m. at Truist Field, and tickets start at $20 with children 8 and under having free general admission.
Kermes de la Herencia Latina, Durham: Sept. 25
El Futuro is hosting a day of games, music, and community on Sept. 25 to celebrate Latino culture in Durham! From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., this community event will have a craft market, raffles, and traditional food like Oaxaquenas tlayudas, Salvadorian pupusas, and more!
Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration, Wilmington: Oct. 3
Celebrate Hispanic and Latino heritage in the beautiful New Hanover Arboretum from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Oct. 3. There will be small businesses, non-profits, music, food trucks, and fun activities like a garden scavenger hunt!
Latino Festival, High Point: Oct. 7
The Latino Family Center of Greater High Point is bringing the community together for an afternoon of live music (including local dancers and singers), Latin American food, and kid-friendly activities from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the YWCA in High Point.
Hola Charlotte Festival, Charlotte: Oct. 7
Hola Charlotte is the largest Hispanic Heritage festival in Charlotte and is getting ready for its 11th year celebrating the diversity and vibrance of Latin American communities. Tryon Street will be filled with dance performances, bands, and cultural villages from 12 p.m – 6 p.m.
